How to Extract Files or Objects from a PowerPoint or Word File

If you would like to extract video, audio, or pictures from a PowerPoint or Word file, it is easy to do!  Just follow these steps.

For PC Users:

Step 1:  Make a Copy of the PPT file

Step 2:  Right click on the copy of the file and then select Rename

Step 3:  Change the file extension .pptx (or .docx) to .zip and then press enter and confirm the rename.

 Step 4:  The zip file will be generated and double click the folder to open. As there will be many folders in the generated zip file, we need to find the appropriate folder that has the media content in it.  You can navigate through ppt (or word) > media and you will find all the media files in that folder.

For MAC users:

Step 1:  Make a copy of the PowerPoint or Word file.

Step 2:  Rename the .pptx (or .docx) file – change the extension to .zip.

Step 3:  A warning message will be appeared, make sure you will allow the changes, so that the file name will be converted to .zip.

Step 4:  Right click on the zip file, then select extract and then open it. You can navigate through ppt (or word) > media and you will find all the media files in that folder.

Note:

If you want to restore the original presentation, the file should be renamed from .zip to .pptx
